The Academy
The Capitol Theatre Academy is an outreach initiative of the Capitol Theatre, offering theatre instruction and performance opportunities in both official languages for youth and adults.
The Capitol Theatre Academy fosters an appreciation of the theatre arts by nurturing creativity, promoting cooperation, enhancing communication, and developing life skills. This is achieved through year-round programs that challenge and inspire. All delivered by a highly qualified team of professionals.
Partners
The partnerships the Academy has forged with professional arts associations and community groups have helped create a sense of pride in where we live. Seen as the primary outreach project of the Capitol and its Board of Directors, support for the Academy has been generously offered by school districts, the provincial and federal governments, municipalities of southeast New Brunswick, our corporate sponsors and friends of the Capitol as well as lovers of performing arts.
Advisory Board
The Academy’s Advisory Board provides advice, direction and support. Its members represent a cross section of arts, education and community professionals.
Financial Aid
The Capitol Theatre Academy is pleased to offer bursaries for students of limited financial means wishing to enroll. We offer one bursary per class, per session (Fall and Winter) for students in need.
These bursaries are based on the financial need of the applicant and the financial resources of the Academy. The assessment of financial need will be conducted confidentially by public school personnel, after which they will make recommendations to the Capitol Theatre Academy’s Advisory Board. A full bursary may be awarded to a single student, or one bursary may be divided into smaller amounts and awarded to more than one candidate. A student may qualify for more than one session. Bursaries will be funded by donations received by the Capitol Foundation, the City of Moncton, Town of Riverview and individual donations.
