Art Opening - Annie LeBouthillier
The public is invited to Annie LeBouthillier’s art opening at the Capitol Theatre Art Gallery on Monday, November 2, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
In this new exhibition, the New Brunswick-based artist and photographer invites the public to reflect not only on the contrasts in nature but also on those within ourselves: energy and calm, brilliance and subtlety, movement and contemplation.
Annie LeBouthillier hopes to inspire a moment of introspection among visitors. “I hope that my exhibition Between Shadow and Light goes beyond a simple admiration for nature. I hope that people will see themselves reflected in my works and that they will ponder on why they were drawn to a particular piece. Were they attracted to the shadow or the light from the very beginning?” she explains.
True to the essence of her artistic project, Sauvage Unique Driftwood Artwork, the artist, who hails from the Acadian Peninsula, creates using her wildlife photographs, driftwood, and objects found in nature.
Gathered during nature excursions with her partner Alvin and their dog, these natural elements and unique objects—abandoned on the shores of the Atlantic provinces, Quebec, and Maine—find a second life and new beauty thanks to Annie LeBouthillier.
In her studio in Dieppe, she uses a variety of construction tools to create her works, while mastering the Japanese wood-burning technique known as Shou Sugi Ban.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Annie LeBouthillier’s artworks is donated to the Atlantic Wildlife Institute, an organization dedicated to the well-being and conservation of wildlife.
