Since re-opening in 1993, over $7 million dollars have been invested in the Capitol, southeastern New Brunswick’s premier performing arts centre. Funds collected through the Capital Improvement fee, in addition to sums received from the public sector, are invested in stage and technical equipment. Countless building improvement projects have been completed, ensuring the facility is the best it can be for the artists who perform here and for you the patron.
Infants and children under two years of age are not permitted to attend performances for general audiences.
Infants and children under two are permitted to attend performances produced specifically for young audiences (i.e. children’s shows) and may attend at no cost if they are seated in the lap of another patron and do not require their own seat.
Children two years old and over require a ticket to a seat even if they will not be using their seat (sitting on the lap of another patron).
Children are expected to maintain the same level of conduct as other patrons. If they are disruptive to other patrons or to the artists’ delivery of the performance (i.e. crying, talking loudly, etc), they may be asked to temporarily leave the auditorium.
Patrons under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
All theatre goers are expected to behave in a respectful manner. Patrons may be asked to leave, without reimbursement, if once brought to their attention, the offensive behavior is not curtailed. Examples of behaviour that will not be tolerated include:
- Behaviour or actions that are threatening or violent in nature, including verbal or physical harassment of theatre staff and/or other patrons. This includes the use of abusive language and gestures, threats, cursing, or sexual language.
- Irresponsible use or consumption of illegal drugs or signs of impairment from use of alcohol or other substances.
- Repeated use of cellphones, laptops, or other electronic devices during the performance.
- Repeated photography, and audio or video recording of the performance.
- Conduct that results in damage to the theatre or other personal property.
- Any form of discrimination or harassment because of race, colour, creed, religion, national origin, citizenship, sex, pregnancy, age, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or disability.
- Any disruptive, harmful, or disorderly behaviour or any act which, in the opinion of Theatre Management, presents a risk to safety of fellow patrons or staff, interferes with the show or otherwise targets other patrons’ enjoyment of the performance.
Should you arrive late, our volunteers will assist you in getting into the show during a break in the performance, ensuring the audience or the artists are not disrupted.
