Since its very first performance on March 21, 1979, the love affair between Quebec audiences and Broue has lasted nearly 39 years without interruption. This play has long since transcended its status as mere entertainment and comedy to become a true source of national pride.
Its colorful characters are part of the collective imagination, portraying a pre-referendum Quebec on the eve of an invasion that threatens their sacred space: the arrival of women in that hallowed place known as... the Tavern!
